Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Warriors Party

Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces growing in power within the city.

Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of this adventure follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of heroes who will split off from the central cast to begin their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

With a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.

Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.

Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem out of place, but the events of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

First, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose death initiated the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into the secret base, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.

The antagonist then cleared his obligations and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each character has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
  • The adventurer has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a nasty environment.
  • The warrior and The healer, having resisted his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their position as key figures in the influential clan could enable the team reach locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This leaves them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in search of Casimir.

Future Episodes

According to the latest episode’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight players to round up the Explorers and Schemers tables.

Audiences can expect finding out which characters will be assigned to which table in the story’s last Overture episode, released on the upcoming Thursday.
